Deputy D. Bodenheimer. The diligent actions of Deputy D. Bodenheimer of Lewisville Community Policing are being commended for his swift and effective response in apprehending an armed suspect. The suspect had been seen in the area taking pictures of houses on Friday, August 23, 2024. This individual had been evading authorities for some time, suspected of being connected to a string of recent house break-ins that had plagued Yadkin County, Davidson County, and now targeting our community. The following day, Deputy Bodenheimer was able to strategically position himself at the same address where the suspect returned to. After locating the suspect, Deputy Bodenheimer moved in with precision, safely taking the armed suspect into custody without incident. This was a textbook example of proactive law enforcement. This arrest exemplifies Deputy Bodenheimer’s commitment to proactive law enforcement, public safety, and the protection of our community. His diligence and dedication are a testament to his skill, professionalism, and unwavering sense of duty.
Deputy J. Koontz. On the evening of July 31, 2024, Deputy J. Koontz who serves on Patrol, displayed extraordinary bravery and quick thinking in a life-threatening situation that unfolded on a busy highway. Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the CVS pharmacy on Lewisville-Clemmons Road regarding a heated argument between a male and female, later identified as father and daughter. While en route, the father informed Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Communications that his daughter intended to harm herself. Upon arrival, Deputy Koontz and other deputies were unable to locate the two individuals in the CVS parking lot. However, a passerby pointed them toward the nearby 421 highway ramp. Racing to the scene, Deputy Koontz spotted the female in the middle of the busy highway, waving her arms and seemingly determined to cause harm to herself. Without hesitation, Deputy Koontz ran into oncoming traffic and bravely pulled the female from the center of the highway, dragging her to safety on the grassy shoulder. While his swift actions resulted in a multi-car collision as drivers attempted to avoid the unfolding scene, Koontz's heroic efforts ultimately saved the life of an 18-year-old. Deputy Koontz’s courage and selflessness exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement. Deputy Koontz demonstrated quick thinking and an unselfish willingness to put his own safety at risk to protect a citizen in crisis. Deputy Koontz’s actions serve as a powerful reminder of the profound impact that law enforcement officers have in their communities, often putting themselves in harm's way to protect others.
