Synopsis and Discussion

Air quality levels continue to remain in the upper Code GREEN range across the Triad this afternoon as high pressure centered over the southern Appalachians continues to keep skies sunny and dry. Northeasterly winds have sourced in relatively cleaner air from the northeastern United States while also generating enough low-level wind dispersion to prevent any pooling of pollution concentrations. High pressure will continue to hold over the Triad tomorrow to warrant upper Code GREEN AQI once again for the Triad, with a few afternoon hours possibly reaching low Code YELLOW for ozone. An upper level disturbance drops in from the northwest late Sunday and may bring some increased cloudiness to the Triad on Monday, but skies should be sunny enough to elevate air quality levels into the upper Code GREEN range. A coastal low is expected to form offshore of the Carolinas on Monday and may provide cloudier skies late Monday into Tuesday, but once again there should be enough solar radiation breaking through the cloud deck to keep pollution AQI in the upper Code GREEN range. The Forsyth County Office of Environmental Assistance and Protection is making data available from the county's air monitoring network as a public service. These data represent the hourly data set from all of the sites within this network. Data from Triad sites outside of Forsyth County are collected by the North Carolina Division of Air Quality.
