Synopsis and Discussion

After widespread rain quickly moved through the Triad resulting from the remnants of Helene, breezy southeasterly winds have kept air quality levels well within the Code GREEN range this afternoon. The upper level low that pulled Helene into the TN/KY valley is expected to meander over the Ohio & Tennessee valley the next few days, keeping the Triad under a persistent southwesterly flow that will likely prevent any significant pooling of pollution concentrations. With that said, air quality levels will likely rise into the middle to upper Code GREEN range through the weekend. By Monday, the upper level low finally gets picked up by an trough attached to the main upper flow pattern and lifts off to the east by Tuesday. Skies will likely be partly cloudy early before giving way to more sun, allowing AQI to rise into the upper Code GREEN range. (Payne)
